    Their influence is outsized by all standards of measurement. They don't have THAT many members, and the gun manufacturing industry isn't THAT big, certainly when compared against organizations like AARP or oil/tobacco/agriculture/military-contractor corporations. It is a mystery to me how such a small group is able to gain sway over such an important issue for so long. Tom Selleck is a mover/shaker? Are you freakin' kidding me? Grover Norquist?

    If there's a reason for the secrecy which shrouds the inner sanctum, it's this: collusion between NRA and a wide array of conservative interests across the media, industry, and political landscape.

      They don't have THAT many members, and the gun manufacturing industry isn't THAT big,
      they are part of the Military Industrial Complex and as such, have a hidden handle.They can overtly lobby for civilian guns and put additional pressure via the Pentagon to keep them in business to supply, basically the same guns, to the military.

      If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!
