      Then it's 6 or 4 years.  But to answer dinotrac's question, the Top 2 primary will remain unless it's voted out, as it was put in via initiative.

      shaso, below, points out that with an incumbent running for re-election, usually their party won't run anyone else.  There were a lot of open seats in 2012 because California had some serious redistricting.
