  •  Insurance... (8+ / 0-)

One Saturday last summer, hubby started experiencing some severe, sharp pains.  Fearing heart attack (even though he has no history of heart problems), I got him to the ER.  It turned out to be gall bladder, and they admitted him for surgery to remove it because the blockage was so bad.

It wasn't going to kill him, and had he known it was gall bladder, he could have waited until Monday and got in to his regular doctor I suppose.  But with the pain he was experiencing, we didn't know.  If we'd been uninsured, would we still have gone to the ER?  And what if had been a heart attack?

I knew at the time that my job would be going away, and was glad that it happened while we still had coverage.  It's also why we are currently paying for COBRA - at a cost that's a few hundred dollars more than our mortgage each month (and this is a mortgage on a San Francisco home, for chrissakes...)

    Can't wait until next year.
