    With a knife, you must decide if you're really going to attack. You must lash out, you must thrust. With a gun, once you have it out, all it takes is a twitch of a finger. We see on TV someone taking the gun away from someone because the good guy knows they aren't really going to shoot. But the good guy only knows that because the script said he knows it.

      to reduce flinching.  They have found new recruits tend to miss as many as 23 times when shooting at a human target which gradually decreases with combat experience.  Given chronic shortages of ammo with the military, they have been working to reduce this learning curve since it has remained constant in WWII, Korea and VN.

      They have found practice with RP combat video games tend to decrease this "learning curve" and decreases the length of time it takes a recruit to learn to shoot to kill
