Look where he came from; baseball -- no reason to present data to tell a preset narrative there.  Everybody is on the same page to present facts/data.

Polling was a little different for him, but fortunately it came with enough backing data that he could get to the bottom of it.

Now getting into spending... well, that's a bit fuzzier.  The data is obviously being presented in ways to push forward a narrative and that's where things start to go wrong.  Maybe he bought into the narrative because the numbers were adding up, maybe he just didn't look closely enough because he didn't know how these numbers could be misrepresented.

Tell him where he went wrong, get him to correct the article.  All good.

simple inputs like baseball and even elections, especially when it got down to just 2 serious contenders.

When it comes to spending or climate change then the complexity is way beyond his methods.

When he adds bad data to begin what he is doing is worse than worthless, but dangerous because now he has a big platform to mislead many others at the NYT.

This GIGO = Garbage In, Garbage Out mistake should really be pointed out to Nate.

      Congressional elections have consequences!
