    check out this:

    This estimates that the colonial population of NE in 1770 was about 580,000.  Adjusted for growth to 1775 would bring it to about approximately 600,000.  You are staying there were 200,000 British Regulars in NE?  The entire British army and navy in the WHOLE EMPIRE in the WHOLE WORLD couldn't have been that large.  It is a preposterous number.
