  •  The truly beautiful thing about FaceBook (4+ / 0-)

    is how much choice it gives us. Very much, in that venue, we decide who we interact with, when, and on what terms. I have gone ahead and sent potentially controversial emails (involving confrontations) for precisely this reason: "Well, if so-and-so wants, they can always block me." So I never have to worry that I might be intruding on anybody. A friend of mine who's unemployed, repeatedly un-friends people who offer her unsolicited advice--which she's been clear she's sick of--about how to get a job.

    If we want to engage in activism on FB, because we feel we might sway somebody that way, it's our choice. On the other hand, if we want to shun somebody because we find their political opinions inappropriate and infuriating, that's fine, too.

    None of this is directly related to the diary. I am merely imparting a context.
