    that I find it hard to believe he was "only" there for two decades!!  

    I know there were other managers, some better than others, but there will always be only one Earl of Baltimore.

    Some players are known by a single name: Brooks, Boog, Ed-die.  Earl will always be....Earl.

    No matter how well or badly they ever played, Earl was largely the reason I've never rooted for another team.  They will always be "dem O's" for me.

    One story has it that during an exchange with an official, Earl offered that he would gladly loan the official his own rule book, "Except it isn't written in braille!"

    Yer out!

    Part of the fun was seeing if Earl would get tossed during a game, and what fer.  

    God bless him.  He loved the game and made us love it more.

    There will always be baseball, but there will never be another Earl Weaver.

    Rest now.  You've earned it.
