  •  Low turnout can easily have local consequences (7+ / 0-)

My politics have always skewed toward very local interests over Federal politics, and this area has been sliding from Progressive to more Centrist in the past few elections. I know that radicals and Leftists of all stripes tend to get out and vote for Progressive candidates around here in the Primaries. If these folks don't turn out, it will just go more Blue Dog.

So even with a Blue District, that happens.

I don't think anyone I voted for locally won in 2010 or 2012 with one exception. Not one member of the City Council or Board of Supervisors, Mayors, Judge, nothing (with like one exception). That's unusual, and I voted for Progressives, as usual, although with a slightly more straight-ticket in 2012 for obvious reasons. I worry about that in 2014. I also worry about local initiatives and measures passing.
