(I don't)-- 85% consider it a tool for deer season. Or turkeys. Can't see how your discussion relates to most gun owners, People who don't really mind some controls on assault weapons and high capacity mags.

Your TP#5 is extremely stupid. The issue should be about criminals and mentally unstable folks going out and buying guns for bad purposes.

Your idea is apparently to strip every gun of any kind from all the people. This won't happen, so you need to adjust your message to reality.

By the way, the best diary for gun control is GunFail. These clips show how lousy the "training" for gun safety is. Its very scary to realize that many folks have taken such gun safety courses and, well, they aren't qualified to pick one up.

      Really?  That's your answer?

      1. I took great pains in the Intro (and at the end) to explain that this was emphatically not aimed at most gun owners. Rather, it was aimed at responding to the people like James Yeager (the YouTube video I linked to in the Intro), who threaten to kill people over the idea of regulation.

      2. Could you clarify what you meant regarding TP#5? Were you referring to my answer? If so, it was in response to a very often-used argument for maintaining the status quo on guns, so it seems pertinent. If not, I'd like to know what you meant.

      3. I in no way suggested stripping "every gun of any kind from all people". Perhaps you only skimmed the diary, and didn't read it through? Since you've made a number of false assumptions about what I've said, it's looking pretty likely that this is the case.

      4. You're absolutely right about Gun Fail. It's my favorite gun-control-oriented diary. Growing up as hunters, my father was very, very conscientious about teaching my older brother and I proper handling and care of guns. Too many people don't have the proper training to deal with the weapons they possess.
