  •  Animals kill using physical prowess, (14+ / 0-)

intelligence, and for a purpose. It's how animals kill other animals, every time -- but it's not how man using a gun kills other men. A gunshot too often is only a physical expression of  rage or hatred, involving neither physical prowess, intelligence, nor purpose. It's the antithesis of "being a man".
Hunters should go out hunting game with only one bullet. They get one shot. If they blow it, it means they're a lousy hunter. Try again another day with another bullet.
In America guns are props for manhood, substitutes for ability, and practice for a "skill" that is useless for everyday life: killing something.
When there are 300 million guns freely available, then it's obviously easy for several hundred thousands or millions to get "lost" and wind up with the criminal element. Since upping the amount of weapons  available means upping the amount that will will not be accounted for, then you can easily see that increasing American gun ownership to 500 or 900 million will just put that much more weapons in the hands of more people who will commit murder with them.
You  gotta wonder how stupid people are who argue that's exactly what we need to do.

    •  Predators, unless they are really dumb like frogs, (5+ / 0-)

do not eat their own kind. Only humans kill their own kind as a matter of routine. That they don't eat what they kill doesn't make them better than other predators; it makes them worse.

"Only kill what you eat or share" would go a long way towards solving our over population and hunger problem, especially if it were applied to all the organic matter we consume. As it stands now, fully one third of all the food produced globally goes to waste.

What we see is not a happenstance. People are poor and starving on purpose. It's not their purpose. It serves someone else's purpose. What purpose? To convey the message that compliance is all. "Comply or die," sooner rather than later. That's the new order, euphemistically enunciated as "no free lunch."

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.

    •  Well- (0+ / 0-)

you have to remember that owning a gun "Reissues their Mancard!"

The Onion says----scholars have discovered---the Mayan word for "Apocalypse" in fact---translates more accurately as: "Time of pale obese gun monsters."
