lol, maybe we should just do it.  We can't be the only ones who want to make meaning out of our lives without pretending to think that a personal God who watches and cares is real.

Just get to the "much more" without a bible like wise words from Emerson or Gandhi or a poet and expand from there.  Develop that fellowship by just meeting once a week or every two weeks and before you know it you have a community of folks. I guess we are so use to meeting under the guise of the church we forgot to meet to just meet.
That's it exactly.  I live in the burbs near Seattle, which is itself part of the bigger question.  We're having to reinvent ways to connect when the whole structure of the neighborhood is about not doing that.  The garage door opener symbolizes it for me . . . don't even have to get out of the car and show ourselves.  Just roll in and seal yourself behind those doors.

"Religion" if you are uninterested in or rebelling against God/Jesus/etc.

They are a lot like UCC, without the "christ" part.  There are folks at my UU Church, very good friends of mine, who ascribe to Christianity.  They study Q'ballah (which I'm sure I butchered spelling of) and are not very welcome in most "christian" churches.  They are quite comfortable with a wide range of spiritual beliefs and practices, as are the other members and friends.

I  started going because I was missing the community of church and had found out that I would not have to subscribe to a creed or dogma there.  My smaller group is with the excellent choirs.

Hope you find a comfortable solution for you!

    •  LOL. We're as far as two people can be in the US. (0+ / 0-)

If we do this, you come to my unchurch in DC and I'll come to your unchurch in Seattle.  Deal?
