  •  I don't understand why (7+ / 0-)

    anyone would think that putting armed people in schools would solve the problem of mass shootings. Even if it could be made 100% effective (and that's unlikely), shooters would simply aim their guns somewhere else:  soccer fields, recreation centers, churches, buses, etc. Thus, the armed guard solution would become a game of whack-a-mole, ultimately turning the country into an armed camp, wherein every building is a fortress--a solution that is neither desirable nor sustainable.

      apparently can't hit the broad side of a barn as is evident by the RAND study and the 2012 August Empire state building shootout where at least 8 innocent civilians were hit with police bullets. So what's a teacher principal or janitor going to do....

      And that shouldn't be the reason they're there.

      They should be there to do normal cop stuff. Break up fights especially in hs, handle any thefts, etc.

      Nothing is going to stop a mass murderer. Nothing ever has.

      Except keeping them from getting a weapon that can kill a lot of people fast.
