  •  Lovely diary. I'm not convinced of this, yet, (4+ / 0-)

    though:

And with one paragraph. On a beautifully blue day in Washington, the President of the United States of America, the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, opened the wound and set the scarabs free.
For those who have been blocking the connections, I don't think Obama's speech will change a thing for them. So, I'm not convinced that his speech really means a change of momentum.

I might believe it could mean more if he weren't the man who went around in 2008 campaigning about protecting our civil rights and how we didn't have to give them up in the name of security. And then proceeded to sign into law the power to detain American citizens without charges, indefinitely.

His kill list and drone strikes make me cringe every time I see a reference to him being a Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

He's a good talker. But the actions often betray the talk.

I hope that's not the case here, as this is a matter of the most fundamentally grave importance. I hope he will stand strong against corporate interests and really fight for best service to the planet.

I'm in wait and see mode.

there are many things this administration has done/does that defy reason ...

and i guess in my reasoning I was thinking more of a shift in awareness which is not always, in fact not often, one that is conscious at the time ... but almost like a leitmotif which informs our actions and often independent cross-discipline, cross-cultural, cross medium along the lines of an unaudible tune ...

To think just one year ago about the president discussing climate change in a public speech was unphatomable let alone in the inaugural ...

I don't follow politics much so Im not sure if the president has ever spoken himself about his policies re detention, warrantless wire tapping and drones ... the justifications .... but I do remember how drone attacks occurred on the very day of his first inaugural.

I hope that the next four years shift directions and policy in all of these affairs.
