    Since you are aware, of course, that people have attacked students in schools with other than firearms, one can only conclude that regarding students' safety Australian authorities hope for the best but don't plan for the worst. Comforting.

      lives here and has kids in school and works at a university. So yes, one of us is aware of quite a bit.

      Student safety is a top concern. And it is not accomplished by putting armed gun nuts on campus. It's accomplished in part by not having gun nuts roaming the streets and shopping malls.

      It turns out it's far, far easier to ensure student and employee safety when you don't have guns everywhere.
