    I think what the research is missing, and not just in CA, but NY, and NJ, is the impact of retiring high income boomers. Add to that the fact that for more high income earners there isn't the requirement to be at a specific physical place. I think going forward state income tax rates will play a much greater role in where high income earners retire, and where they choose to work.
