While we should always be vigilant, and the "split the electoral vote by gerrymandered congressional districts" thing makes a nice scare story to tell ourselves after turning out the lights, there are an enormous number of high hurdles to jump before this could be done on any scale — and there would be blowback on the way. Our secretary of voter suppress .... I mean STATE ... here in Ohio, Jon Husted, mentioned it in passing at a post-election forum, not even actually PROPOSING it, but just saying this is an idea floating around. And the negative blowback was instantaneous to the point where he had to publicly say it wasn't something he thought should be considered.

    Jon Husted is a dick.

    •  PA is the state strongly pushing this idea, and I (0+ / 0-)

worry there won't be pushback. The people who live in the "T" already think Philadelphia and Pittsburgh already have too much say in policy. It never occurs to them that there are far more people in the cities and that those votes are equal to theirs.

Our only chance here in PA is to get Corbett out of office in 2014. The problem is the huge turnout doesn't happen in mid-term elections, and that's how the Repubs end up owning the state. It would also help if the Dems put up a strong candidate.
