a high school in a far west Denver suburb that is well up in the foothills. View of downtown Denver and the metro area is spectacular.

So is the view of the Federal Center, about 2 miles down hill, the largest federal complex outside of DC.

The principal came on the intercom after it was clear an attack was going on and announced that classes would continue as scheduled and the TVs were not to be used to watch the news. All the rooms had TVs, they were primarily used for videos, but they were connected to cable.

My daughter estimated that at least 85% of the teachers ignored the announcement and no one came around to enforce it. Her first class was a phenomenal history teacher at the school, whose 20 something daughter was in that area of NYC.  Yeah, sure, turn off the teevee.

He pointed out to the students they were witnessing history. His daughter was fine. I think he had more gray hair.

It so happened I had a meeting with my sister and a lawyer about mom's legal stuff that morning. I got to the building Chris worked in, one of the most recognizable on the Denver skyline, and they weren't letting anyone but employees in. I got back to my vehicle as she drove up saying "They told us to leave, I didn't wait to be told again."
