Maybe I'm just a newbie, but I don't understand the #tcot hashtag.  Does adding that hashtag mean that you are directing your tweet to some group that is generally regarded as the "top conservatives on twitter"?  If so, who are those people, and what do they do with all the crazy?  Does adding that hashtag mean that you are saying you are one of the "top conservatives on twitter"?  Is there some test for that?  Or does everyone get to be a pundit now?

This post is snark, mostly.  But doesn't anyone else think the construct is weird?

who is tweeting on today's inauguration on the right. You can search or follow #tcot on twitter and see everything that's been said, participate in the conversation. Point is to get the conversation to trend, so everyone is encouraged to use it when posting their right wingnut, ill-informed thoughts - get the conversation more attention, more media attention, spread the word (or the manure. In this case, Twitter is a manure spreader).

At least, that's generally what a hashtag does.

Having said that, I have no idea who "they" is, who threw up that particular hashtag.
