    ...(the rest too). We should always make a distinction between NRA members and NRA leadership. I still know many members (I was one until 1987) who are perfectly reasonable people, as well as being Democrats. They can be our allies in reducing gun violence if we're smart about it and don't write them all off.

    That isn't to say that many are not, in fact, ignorant, sadistic, paranoid and racist.

    Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

      wouldn't they be out of the NRA by now?  I mean, I'm a gun owner and I figured out LONG ago--before all these recent shootings--that the NRA is an organization of extremists.  You'd have to live in a cave to be unaware of this.  The NRA has blood on its hands and if you're paying membership dues and being counted in their membership totals, you are at the very least enabling their crap.
