    at the same time.  There are two people who regularly sent me internet "humor" with all sorts of dog-whistles.  I know both of them well enough to know that they flat out don't agree with the POV behind the pieces.  Also, they sometimes send things to business associates so they want to avoid political messages, but they truly didn't know how to read between the lines in the pieces.  So many of them sound just like longing for a simpler time, when it's really all about longing for a time when women were in the home, minorities knew their place, only opposite-sex couples appeared in public, and non-Christians' beliefs were ignored.  

    I'd send them back and gently point out the underlying message.  My sister-in-law has gotten much better at decoding the messages, but the other friend still sends a lot of them.  Oh well.
