    They operate on a combination of piezo electrics and torque capture at the bottom of the stalk, which are quite tall.

    Advantage: no noise.
    Advantage: can be placed in residential and industrial areas.
    Advantage: can be packed more densely as, unlike turbines, as the resulting turbulence enhances, rather than detracts from, their efficiency.
    Advantage: Fewer moving parts thus easier to maintain.
    Advantage: Less reliance on long-distance power lines which require maintenance.

    Windstalks can also be used, with modifications, to draw power from rivers, ocean currents, tides and waves.
