until 55. Now I know why they they have a 45-54 group and a 55-64 group. All kinds of bad stuff happens at 55.   Headaches and short term memory problems were the ones that stopped me cold.  I used to be able to memorize tons of data. Now I have to write everything down as I get it because a second later it will be gone. Even repeating it doesn't work if any distractions comes up. A Fly, a Itch, anything.

One possibility for a non-management person is to be a liaison between management and coders. If you under the rules of business and quite a bit about office politics, you may be able to transition from a 8 -24 hour a day coder to person that both sides need.  Patience is a virtue and making no assumptions about how little non-technical people know even if they have a little bit of the jargon down.  You already know what coders need;  less meetings is a good start.

They need a easy job description for it. I'm sure there is something like that out there. I haven't found it though.
