    But personally, I don't expect to live that long. Of my grandparents, the oldest lived to 72 (and she was miserable- chronically depressed and obese). The other three all died before hitting 63: cancer, lung disease, heart attack. I already have pretty bad asthma.

    My dad died of a heart attack when he was 56. My mom is 65 now, and doing okay.

    I'm at peace with the idea of me living past 67 being a long shot. Thus, just looking at the odds, the likelihood of me getting out of Social Security what I've paid in is slim, and if they raise the reitrement age to 70, I'd almost be willing to nudge it to none.

    Small varmints, if you will.

      suffering from asthma, you might well end up qualifying for disability social security along the way.  Hope things work out better for you than your forebears.  You never know which genes you might have gotten.
