that the technical aspect, the how it does what it does, matters not a bit by comparison the WHAT it does.
If it can penetrate a cinder block, it can penetrate a scull.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

I also have a 25 cal that is much more powerful; will shoot through steel drums, shatters the heaviest pottery, and can put a hole in a cinder block with maybe 8-10 shots.

NOT a firearm and is not regulated as one. I shoot it in my yard daily, or in my shop (which is 40 feet in length: a fine 10 meter shooting lane) I have a big yard at the end of dead end road.

I can't shoot firearms there, rendering them almost completely useless for me. I don't want to go to a shooting range every time I want to shoot.

Plus air rifles are REALLY cheap on ammo: 300 rnds of 25 grain  25 cal for $9.00. 500 rnds of 14 grain 22 for $9.00.

These are basically far safer than firearms though remarkably unforgiving if you screw up. It's a single shot. Either you hit your target or you don't. You might get a do-over because the thing is so quiet. But usually, a missed shot and all the squirrels dissipate.

Air rifles, to me, are a hell of a lot more practical..... simply because I can actually use them.

The #1 reason I don't own a real gun is that I can't actually use it without paying money and driving around. Inconvenience kills the fun.

I can shoot whenever I feel like it, don't have to pay a fee, don't have to drive: I don't even have to ask permission.

        totally uninterested in that.

        Squirrels, hogs, coyotes - yes.

Deer, most birds, most other animals - no.

I'd like to try hunting pythons in the Everglades.....

That would be a service to the ecosystem there.

is going to grow up to be 14 feet long and eat your kids.

I understand also that Hurricane Andrew really destroyed a lot of homes and zoos and turned all manner of snakes into the Florida wild, where like the pythons have become established even though they aren't remotely native to the area.

They are ambush predators so hunting them is not for the drunk and stupid.....
