  •  Proposed super tanker port in Houston (0+ / 0-)

Houston/Port Arthur has a little over 1 million b/day cat cracker capacity, KXL would deliver about .9 million b/day. From Houston to the Western EU is a little shorter for a tanker than from the ME to Western EU.

Since syncrude is the number one product coming from the tar sands today, my guess is they will continue to process bitumen locally and sell light crude syncrude on the world market. This may or may not mean the KXL will carry bitumen.
