Taibbi... the author is Tim Dickenson.  I just posted a link and excerpt from it in another comment above. Anyone who still thinks McCain is any sort of hero should invest the time to read the whole thing.

That was the title of the scathing expose of McCain by Dickenson. It came out a few weeks before the 2008 election. If anyone thought he was a hero, this article would give you reasons to doubt.
If McCain were a hero,he would never have agreed to Palin as his running mate.Desperate men do desperate things. What a legacy he inflicted upon us with her.Birth of the tea party.
If McCain were a hero,he would have accepted defeat with grace. He had an opportunity to be a leader in the senate to work with Dems for the good of the country Bitterness, revenge, obstruction are not heroic.
McCain is one of the saddest excuses for what should be a wise and seasoned politician.May he never run again, and should he,hopefully Az will be blue enough to relegate him to obscurityand irrelevance where he should have been a long time ago.
Sorry I got long-winded.Devil made me do it.

We could certainly slow down the aging process if it had to work its way through Congress. Will Rogers
