We live 1000 miles from my mother-in-law. It has never been an option to have home care. She is 101 years old and had it pretty together until last year when dementia became a huge issue. The place where she is welcomes hospice who reports to us about everything going on in her care. People like my mother-in-law exist on the edge of care alternatives because it is not meds she needs, it is watchful care. She is healthy in many ways but she is definitely on her way out. No one can predict her demise though she gets progressively weaker as time goes on. Hospice is working hand-in-hand with the nursing home to make her gradually diminishing days good. We are grateful to all.
