  •  A friend of mine swam with captive dolphins (6+ / 0-)

in a hurricane-fenced embayment in FL many years ago, came back RAVING about watching 2 of them lurk at the fence, one at 45 degree angle to it, the other at 135 degrees, until a fish approached, then they simultaneously PINGed the fish with enough power to blast it apart. After which they shared the chum and waited for another fish...

That seemed pretty effective in an aquatic kind of way!

And THEN came the male dolphins wrapping their ginormous, prehensile penises around the swimmers, male and female, and taking them for a swim, sometimes at the surface and sometimes not. There was no polite way to refuse...

Another effective manipulation in its own way. ;D

I continue to think we're up here pondering what such big-brained animals might be thinking, stuck as they are without limbs, much less our opposable thumbs ----- and they're busy forming underwater vibrational arrays of all shapes and patterns, some of them stretching for miles, composing multi-dimensional sonic artforms together, perhaps using such sonic structures as calculators for complex mathematical problems, maybe know how to weave sonic patterns that create mental pictures in their minds and others', passersby and audience ooohing and aaaahing and whistling appreciatively...
