I have never seen a generalized talk by any other science  presenter in a library, including other JPL speakers, that showed that type of bias, and was disappointed this one did.  Most of the general science presenters are usually very good at promoting STEM fields to girls (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Like many organizations, Jet Propulsion Laboratories have individuals (in this case, a volunteer) who travel about the United States and give presentations about various aspects of JPL's work, from a general understanding of outer space to Curiosity, the latest Mars rover.  There used to be far more people able to give talks and presentations, but budget cuts decimated this program--and that is where the volunteers come in.  It is hard for places to book a JPL speaker, too--in my library's case, it took 6 months before the program was booked, and anther 6 months before it happened.
