There are many, and even if he's a scientist who has worked under NSF grants for basic/applied projects, he could still be clueless about studies related to girls'/women's (and peoples of color's) more subtle exclusion or discouragement from advancing in STEM, as odd as that might sound. But if he's a lab person, he might not be an educator. Either way, he might be interested in information coming directly from NSF related to (and supportive of) increasing diversity in STEM education and careers. Just go to NSF website and search under "women and girls" and you get tons of info via the Education and Human Resources Directorate.
