    If one assumes that all rocks on Mars are red and that some rocks on Earth are red, then one could reason that "(At least some) non-red rocks -> Not Mars."

    It would be incorrect to answer the question "How do you know this picture was taken on Mars?" by pointing out the red rocks as evidence.

      last sentence seems to so indicate. However, as to your first, if one assumes all rocks on Mars are red, one assumes away most of the complexity of science.
