No surprise the leadership of the Senate has no desire to make elections matter, as long as they get to keep their power as a Majority Party OR a Minority Party.

Dreadfully tired of this every two year claim to eliminate  undemocratic rules of the senate as every two years the Minority retains or even gains more and more obstructionist power.

All democrats need to be ashamed of this capitulation and appeasement by Harry Reid.

The Republican abuse of the filibuster was an affront to the democratic process. Their side talks about King Obama, but their tactics were true tyranny. The Senate is designed to respect minority interests, states like North Dakota with 675,000 people have as much say as states like NY with 19,000,000, the classic filibuster further enabled the minority to press it's interests. But the "387" tactic is undeclared war on the majority. It, on the face of it, no matter who is in power, is a subversive empowerment of the minority. The Republicans gained real, "short term" political gains by abusing the filibuster for an extended period of time. The Merkley/Udall revisions would have stopped that subversive abuse for all time and helped restore trust in the Senate as an institution.

The time was now for real, substantive change. Most importantly, ignoring all political angles, it was the right thing to do.....not that that friggin matters.
