    on the Right, only louder and worse and they actually hold their elected officials accountable, which we do not do. That's why they keep making progress, step by step, in the direction they want to go.

    You act like complaining and disagreeing with what our elected officials do is some kind of crime.  That's why we make no progress.  Every time we are dissatisfied with what they do there's a hoarde of apologists telling the critics to shut up and cheer and be happy with what we got.

    That's not a recipe for progress.  That's a recipe for stagnation and even moving backward.

      between healthy impatience at political outcomes on which Dems have compromised, on the one hand, and the healthy appreciation of real, inexorable progress, given very difficult political realities. Without the latter, progressive commentary becomes so much "Yeah, but..." and "Stinkin' thinkin,'" the alcoholic's classic stunt of undermining of a personal success by refusing to acknowledge it.
