  •  Scott Brown (0+ / 0-)

"Remember Senators Scott Brown and Lincoln Chafee were popular right up to the day voters rejected them."

...would have defeated anybody but Elizabeth Warren.  Getting Warran to run was a stunning Dem coup that can't and won't be replicated everywhere.

And, we still might get Scott Brown the sequel, so we'll find out if I'm right.

    •  I'm quite unsure I agree (0+ / 0-)

Warren ran 1/2 of a fine campaign. Patrick, had he chosen to run, would have defeated him, and it's quite likely that some members of Congress, had they run an intelligent enough race, could have won.

But that said, things are different now that Brown has already been defeated in a race. I don't think he will be as formidable a candidate if he runs for Kerry's seat, though a win by him wouldn't flabbergast me at all. We shall see.
