But I'm off the point of view these days that the Democrats aren't the way they are because of lack of 60 seats, or republican obstruction.  For the most part I think the Democrats have shifted too far too the right over the years because that is what they actually believe is the right way to go.  They pass right wing policies, not because their hands are tied, but because those are the policies they believe in and want to pass.

The biggest problems the Democrats have is trying to always make excuses to their base about why, no matter how much they promise in terms of change and progressive legislation, they never deliver anything more than warmed over right wing policies for the most part.

Fillibuster reform?  Really?  The democrats are going to lose one of their primary excuses for their supposed powerlessness?  I doubt it.  Losing the fillibuster would mean they may have to actually pass policies that the base and majority of voters want...but lobbyists and corporate shills who pay the real bills don't.  Can't have that.

Maybe I'm too jaded at this point.  Maybe I'm completely wrong.  I don't know.  I hope I am.  I hope I am but I don't believe so anymore.
