  •  Reid committed malpractice. (0+ / 0-)

I read some justifications, but they sounded hollow.  It's as though McConnell has the goods on Harry, or else has kidnapped a beloved grandchild and is holding her hostage.  He made so much noise about it, and then suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.

And, of course, the People pay the price

President Obama is going to have to ready a bunch if work-arounds, that's for sure.

    •  Bernie Sanders says Reid didn't have the votes (4+ / 0-)

The Democratic votes... Seven of them...

      I trust Sanders on this.

I wonder who they are.  Who would you guess?

Don't want to slander anyone. Baucus? Landrieu? Levin?

And probably Reid himself. But if the 51+ votes were there, Reid would have had a politically awkward situation to deal with. It's possible that neither Reid nor the White House applied any real pressure...

Baucus first, then Levin. Like you, I didn't want to blame unfairly.  It's not necessarily true that the most conservative senators are the guilty ones....I'd guess though, that they are among the old guard, and still think that the senate is a gentleman's place.   Old beliefs die hard.

      •  It would be better to have the vote, anyway. (4+ / 0-)

Even if it fails.  Then we'd know the seven.

We don't even know how to lose, much less win.

        •  that was the point of not having the vote (0+ / 0-)

and that, more than anything, is what makes Reid so despicable.

plus the next 2 years as nothing gets done again due the republicans.

well, with the exception of more give-aways to multi billion dollar corporations of course.

because that's the true job of the senate.

happened then that's what happened. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer need to be primaried. Too bad Dianne just won an election with virtually no opposition because she's the most popular pol in CA because Repugnicants LOVE her. She's the only politician I've ever called who has no answering machine so she can't get any messages.
