  •  That's the kind of mindset that will get you (7+ / 0-)

hung from a bridge. (Seriously, that's what the Freeman said they intended to do to a local sheriff who didn't toe their line -- try him, find him guilty, and hang him from the girders of the local bridge.)

They strut and scream and fling fecal matter about "Obummer wants to be a tyrant!" and "He wants to be a king!" but the heart and soul of the sovereign philosophy is that every citizen -- read every white male citizen who heads a household -- is his own little pocket tyrant. Sheriffs are little tyrants in their counties. They LOVE tyranny, as long as they get to be the ones wielding it.

...jokers like Babeu to the impotence they deserve.  I don't care what some idiotic "philosophy" says.  We make sovereign-sheriffs and Dominionists out to be scary and they're just, to fall back on the idiom I'm most comfortable with, paper tigers. Paul Babeu's going to stand up to the federal government?  The federal government will put so many holes in him that conservatism will seem solid by comparison.

      •  Ask the people in some of the Montana (8+ / 0-)

townships if they were scared of the Freemen. Before the FBI arrived on the scene (almost a year after the Freemen started throwing their weight around), they were plenty scared: the Freemen had the locals outgunned and outmanned, and were strutting up and down the streets "enforcing" whatever and however they felt. They were preparing to launch assaults on individual farms and landholds to take them over, in some sort of psychotic landgrab scheme. It was a nasty boil that was preparing to erupt all over northern Montana and the surrounding areas.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Hitler's Brownshirts started in much the same fashion...

        •  how sad (0+ / 0-)

I met some of those Montana guys before they joined the  "Freemen."  They were losing their cattle ranch faming operations because corporate giant IBP put the squeeze on their feed and beef prices.

They were populists then and allied with the left and the tree-huggers. I guess it went all wrong real fast after that.

Orly, it isn't evidence just because you downloaded it from the internet.
