  •  I understand frustrating Irish kin searches (9+ / 0-)

My ancestors who settled in NYC include my GreatGrandfather, as well as 2nd and 3rd GreatGrandparents. In one census (1920?)  my 2nd GGrandmother said she arrived in 1852.
All of her children were born in NYC.

What I don't know is if all these folks came together although they are all in the same neighborhood by1860. Given the year, they probably were refugees of the famine - but were they sent out from a poor law union as many were? Or did they flee first to someplace like Liverpool where they could earn passage money?

Is it possible that your Mary and the baby Margaret could have died after Pat's return?

My great-grandmother's father came home from the war and within a few years, he died along with the 2 oldest children.
From the death certificates, I think he came home with a lung disease( consumption, TB) which killed the three of them.
