  •  I am envious. I worked medical labs, water labs (0+ / 0-)

and wastewater labs. The work at times was mind numbingly boring repetitions. Especially medical labs. It seemed that 99% of test results were all in the normals range. Terrible to wish for exciting results. I can especially remember doing a test on the outflow from a wastewater plant that was always near zero (we were told it should ALWAYS be zero... though I was enuff of a rebel to say if I got a no-zero I would record it). Wish I had went for your line... Did try for a refinery lab job, aced thier test but they thought I was too feminine to climb the tanks... Now that I think of it I tried for a resin plant lab job and they told me sorry but...(I just realized like 30 years later...it wasn't me it was the guys working the plant. Wow).

I loved field work. Once while collecting samples of water from selected sources around town I saw some evil slimy electric green water at the railroad yard and collected it for fun... I ran BOD and COD just to start... It was off the charts... so I let the lab sup know and he let me run with it ( I always documented samples and times of collection in my personal lab diary)....anyway the longshot is that they found that they were using a very toxic chem on the trains wheels (so to speak) and letting it run into the storm drain system which depending on the city either goes to the plant (like a diluent) or straight into surface waters...BAD boys had to pay a fine and desist.

    I loved working labs.
