...has little to do with real concern about the safety of US State Dept employees--or other civilian employees--abroad than it has to do with using the consulate attack to attempt to score political points and to attack the POTUS.

The republican "concerned" congress members know that   Sect. Clinton and/or others in the Administration Can't discuss all the details of Benghazi in public hearings.

The GOPers know that the US effort in Benghazi was 'at its heart a CIA operation' but Congress isn't going to publicly grill the CIA about the mission that Stevens "provided cover" for or its security/ lack of such.

So--the hypocrites know that there was more going on at Benghazi than a simple diplomatic mission.  They are aware that the security situation in Libya had been deteriorating for a while and that even now there are warnings of 'Imminent' Threat in Benghazi. They know that  Small teams of special operations forces arrived at American embassies throughout North Africa... the months before militants launched the fiery attack that killed the U.S. ambassador in Libya. The soldiers' mission: Set up a network that could quickly strike a terrorist target or rescue a hostage.

But the teams had yet to do much counterterrorism work in Libya, even though the White House signed off a year ago on the plan to build the new military task force in the region and the advance teams had been there for six months, according to three U.S. counterterror officials and a former intelligence official. All spoke only on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the strategy publicly.

The counterterrorism effort indicates that the administration has been worried for some time about a growing threat posed by al-Qaida and its offshoots in North Africa...

Yes--the hypocrites know all these things and they know that they themselves cut funding for security at US diplomatic facilities.  Yet, oddly enough none of these points have come up in their attempted scapegoating questioning of Sect. Clinton or their pseudo-outraged political posturing comments before cameras.
