  •  It makes you wonder (10+ / 0-)

if Obama is upset about the lack of real reform or not.

McConnell claims it was a big win, that the "beat the liberals" and that Obama was furious about it.  Obama, however, published a congratulatory message about it.  So which is it?

If Obama really was furious about it, Reid would be chopped liver with the party and he'd be black listed by Obama who does not tolerate members of the party doing things that undermine or defy him.  So I tend to think he was not in favor of filibuster reform and that Harry did as he was told and sabotaged it. I just don't see Harry deciding to undermine Obama's agenda for his second term.  In which case, it would indicate that Obama plans to pass only legislation that is pleasing to conservatives, which the Republicans will pass without filibuster.  Of course the kabuki will continue as the Dems have to maintain the charade that they want progressive populist legislation.  It will be the same old same old.  Lots of talk about positive actions popular with the public and then the negotiations which bring it down to the shit sandwich level, at which time the comiserating begins about how without 60 votes progressive legislation cannot be achieved.

Why would they change what they are doing since it has been working so well and getting them reelected as the lesser of two evils, over and over again?  Why would they start doing things differently?  Their only other option is to admit that they are simply the left wing of the 1% Corporatist party.
