  •  The problem here (9+ / 0-)

is that while the actions of Anonymous may be indiscriminate .... no one else is prepared to punish those who should bear responsibility, and I find it hard to condemn anyone drawing attention to it.

If it were just this one case ....

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

And how do you know it is not happening. Can you be more specific?

Who elected Anonymous the punisher? What about accountability? Oh that's right there is NONE with Anonymous. What happens if/when somebody goes "rogue" in this group with some info they hacked, then what?

      •  Then... (12+ / 0-)

We're not much deeper in shit than we already are with the current state of our "democratically elected government."

Anon is a collective entity that works by consensus, if I understand them correctly.

They aren't sentencing anybody to jail or anything.

So far they've been exposing pedos, high school rapists, protesting fracking/tar sands, have successfully run-off the Westboro Baptist Church from protesting at funerals, and the list goes on.

So right now, I personally put more weight in what they ARE accomplishing that the government isn't, than I put in some paranoid fear of them turning to the dark side someday.

Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us.
