    outside of San Diego. However Sothern California has had both tropical storms and tropical depressions that form every 10 years or so. The last I experienced was in '76 and there was a ton of rain, a few small tornadoes and high winds. Given the topology with coastal plains surrounded by mountains there was a lot of flooding.
