    is not something important if we are only doing it to make us feel good about ourselves.

    "Reducing our ecological footprint" will do nothing for the planet if a whole group of someone elses wants to increase their ecological footprints because they're tired of being poor.

    "Demand-side" CO2 reduction, then, is likely to be a dead end.  An international treaty to phase out oil pumping and coal mining, on the other hand...

      forces everyone from all countries to comply. India, China, America.

      You'll never get a treaty to stop producing, we should work on what is possible.
