  •  she refuses to consider that possibility (18+ / 0-)

because she is afraid if she does and the results are not good she will be shattered.

I am encouraging her neither to be optimistic or pessimistic and simply await the results.

We know the most probably diagnosis will be a cancerous tumor that has metastasized from elsewhere.  Even so, that is not necessarily an immediate death sentence.  Many metastases can be managed.  The ER doctor spoke both of one had had seen and reminded her that Lance Armstrong's testicular cancer had metastasized into his brain.

    We have that waiting.

In the meantime we have work to do to stabilize her spine from the damage the mass has done to it.  That is why she was hospitalized immediately, and why she will be here for a while longer.

It is not clear to me when or if I will be able to return to my classroom.   We will discuss that after we get the results of the biopsy and know how things will go forward.

Again, we thank everyone for their concerns, prayers, and well wishes.
