Would be an interesting message - Michigan goes right to work (for less) and Obama nominates MI fmr Gov Granholm to be Labor Secretary.

but I think she'd be better as Labor Sec.  I hope that her gig on Current TV isn't going to disqualify her from serious consideration.... after all, she was pretty zany at times.

      It's the Supreme Court, stupid!

    •  Make Michigan Make Trains (0+ / 0-)

I'd love to see Michigan move to making more trains as Detroit fails to make better cars. Trains connecting Canada's growing economy to the Midwest's failing one. Trains connecting to boats across the Great Lakes.

Electric trains, replacing gas/diesel trucks across the country. Trains like conveyor belts across bridges and tunnels, carrying cars, people and cargo between fixed points. High speed trains linking hubs linked to roads, ports and airports.

And shipping those trains around the world, especially to Latin America and Africa, whose economies need the efficiencies and connectivity even more than ours does.

Michigan retooling into trains, and feeding train tech (batteries, convoys) into car tech (and vice versa) seems like the heart of an industrial policy that could return Michigan to driving the US economy. And so a jobs policy, and an energy policy, and an environmental policy. And a transit policy.
