  •  I seem to remember (9+ / 0-)

a French politician/diplomat during or right after the fall of the Berlin Wall, state that he liked Germany so much that he thought there should be two of them.  That reflects my current feelings about the GOP exactly, although the analogy fails somewhat since this process is the reverse of that one.

Speaker Boehner, where are the jobs?

They are at war in the House of Representatives:

      -- Business Republicans (84 seats)

-- Birch Society Republicans (150 seats)

The Dems have 201 seats. Active governance requires coalition politics connecting Dems with Bizzies.

Birch Society Republicans: America Now Has Three Major Political Parties

The Birchers started taking seats away from Bizzies in 1984. This continued steadily through 2000. Then 2010 brought another surge of Bircher success with massive billionaire funding.

(It's plutocracy. The top twenty-three billionaire GOP donors gave more money for 2010 congressional races than all their other donors combined.)

Brooks is a damn fool. He has no idea what is going on.

"Have you left no sense of decency, sir, at long last?" Army Attorney to Sen. McCarthy, 1954. "We have done nothing to be ashamed of. We have nothing to apologize for." NRA 12/14/2012.
