She was governor of Kansas back in 2007.  After the Greensburg tornado - an EF5 that nuked the entire town - she got behind state legislation that gave a free grant of $5,000 to lower-middle class and poor families in order for them to buy replacement vehicles.  Or assist in buying replacement vehicles.  I managed to find a $4000 Ford Escort, so the program essentially paid for my ride.

Having traveled through the heart of an EF5 and my caregiving duties to my late mom over with, I moved west of the Rockies into New Mexico.  In Kansas, average number of tornado watches every year, over six.  Average number of tornadoes in Kansas every year, 90.  In my part of New Mexico, zero and zero.  And that's the way I like it.

I know, I know, completely off topic.  I just had to express my Sebelius love.

      to drive to New Mexico.

      Love it.

I did time in Topeka and Overland Park. The building we worked in in Topeka had been trashed in the EF5 that tore a hole in the Capitol. They rebuilt it. Aerial photos after that one basically look impossible -- it was a mile wide.
