  •  It's not increasing immigration. (1+ / 0-)

It's about people who are already here. illegal immigrants.

That's not even "gun control". It's more like "massacre control".

    •  They're proposing an increase in H1-B workers (0+ / 0-)

The bipartisan proposal includes allowing all foreign students receiving hi-tech (STEM) degrees from US universities to be automatically granted green cards.  There are also proposals to double the number of immigrants allowed H1-B visas.

That's flooding an already depressed labor market in hi tech, IT jobs with cheap labor.

Those are the ones made public so far, there are probably many other provisions yet to be included that will severely weaken the labor market for IT and highly skilled workers.

Democratic Leaders must be very clear they stand with the working class of our country. Democrats must hold the line in demanding that deficit reduction is done fairly -- not on the backs of the elderly, the sick, children and the poor.

      •  Yeah, that's true, at least in the hype (0+ / 0-)

it's to keep all those highly educated people from returning to their countries, and I also think that equating educated foreigners with start ups is wrong too.  There's a certain self selection in all immigrants, but some guys just want a nine to five.

        •  What about the highly educated unemployed (0+ / 0-)

          and underemployed Americans?

Why would we be trying to keep more highly skilled workers in the US when we can't keep the ones we have employed?

Sounds like a plan to drive down wages in that job market.

          •  What Is The Difference Between (0+ / 0-)

Exporting jobs to cheaper labor and importing cheaper labor to jobs?

            •  Agree, two wrongs don't make a right (0+ / 0-)

We're sucking the marrow out of our country when we fail to employ the best and brightest of our own workforce.
